A character is the AI persona your learners talk to in CommandIQ voice and video modules. Characters live in the Character Library — a shared resource for your whole organization, so a character you create once can be assigned to any module in any course. This walkthrough shows how to create one from scratch. Watch the video above, or follow the step-by-step instructions below.
In Course Builder, select the Character Library tab. On a fresh course the library is empty. Click New (top-right of the Characters list) to start creating a character.
Give the character a Character Name (required) — here we use Col. Dana Whitfield, an MRO program lead. Optionally set the Rank and Sex so the persona reads correctly, and upload a Character Photo. Then use Character details to describe who this character is: their background, temperament, and speaking style — stable traits, not a scenario.
Click Generate Prompt. CommandIQ writes a full persona prompt from the details you provided and drops it into an editable Character Prompt field. Read it, tighten it, and edit anything you want — nothing is locked in.
When you're happy with the prompt, click Create Character. The persona is saved to your organization's library and is immediately available to any module. CommandIQ automatically provisions a matching voice in the background — the status shows Voice: generating… and flips to ready once provisioning finishes, so the character is set for live voice and video calls.
Your new character now appears in the Character Library and can be assigned to any voice or video module in the course. To give a character course- or module-specific personality on top of its core persona, open the module and edit its Prompts → Character Prompt tab.
