Creating a Text Module

Creating a Text Module

A text module is a chat-based practice scenario. Your learner works through it by messaging back and forth with a character — just like texting. This guide walks through creating one from a strategic course's Learning Path, choosing the Text Message type, and authoring the Interaction Prompt that drives the conversation.

Step 1 — Add a blank module and name it

Open your course in Course Builder and go to the Learning Path tab, where every module in the program is laid out day by day. Click Add Module in the top-right. In the dialog, stay on the Blank Module tab and give your module a name — here we use Weekly Team Pulse-Check.

Step 2 — Choose the Text Message type

Under Type, select Text Message — that's what makes this a chat-based scenario. Pick which Day of the program it belongs to. Optionally, assign a Character to run the conversation. Then click Add Module, and it lands in the Learning Path, ready to author.

Step 3 — Open the module in the Module Builder

Open the new module to enter the Module Builder. Along the top you'll find Configure, Scenario Generator, Prompts, and Testing. The heart of a text module lives on the Prompts tab — open it and you'll see the Interaction Prompt.

Step 4 — Author the Interaction Prompt

The Interaction Prompt is the instruction set sent to the AI during the learner's conversation. It defines who the character is, what the scenario is about, and how the exchange should unfold. You can generate a first draft from your module settings, then fine-tune it by hand.

Notice the [END_CONVERSATION] tag near the end of the prompt — that's how a text conversation knows it's complete. And there's no Save button to hunt for: every keystroke autosaves, so your work is always kept.

That's a text module — created, typed, and ready for learners.
